Abstract

Gouty arthritis is an inflammatory disease of the joints that are affected by the intake of foods high in purines. From time to time the number who has gout are increasing. The prevalence of gout tends to increase in younger age (productive age). Levels of uric acid in the blood increases due to an imbalance between production and excretion. Diagnosis and adequate management can reduce the prevalence, recurrence rate, and the incidence of complications of gout arthritis.

Abstrak

Artritis gout merupakan penyakit peradangan sendi yang dipengaruhi oleh asupan makanan yang tinggi purin. Dari waktu ke waktu jumlah penderita gout cenderung meningkat. Prevalensi asam urat cenderung memasuki usia semakin muda yaitu usia produktif. Kadar asam urat dalam darah meningkat dikarenakan ketidakseimbangan antara produksi dan ekskresi. Penegakan diagnosis dan penatalaksanaan yang adekuat dapat menurunkan prevalensi, angka kekambuhan, serta timbulnya komplikasi artritis gout itu sendiri.
