Abstract

ABSTRAK : Kegiatan budidaya terong mempunyai beragam potensi bahaya yang bisa mmberi pengaruh keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja petani.  Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengidentifikasi potensi bahaya, menganalisis tingkat risiko, serta menentukan Upaya pengendalian risiko keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja pada petani terong di Desa Abung Jayo, Kecamatan Abung Selatan, Kabupaten Lampung Utara.  Metode penelitian ini adalah studi deskriptif obervasional dengan pendekatan  Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC). Penelitian dilaksanakan pada 24-30 Maret tahun 2026 yang dilaksanakan di Desa Abung Jayo, Kecamatan Abung Selatan, Kabupaten Lampung Utara. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh petani yang aktif budidaya di desa tersebut, sampel berjumlah 5 orang petani yang dipilih menggunakan Teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria inklusi petani yang telang melakukan budidaya terong minimal satu musim tanam.  Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara dan dokumentasi pada setiap tahapan budidaya terong. Penilain Risiko dilakukan menggunakan matriks Risiko 5x5 berdasarkan likehlihood dan severity serta pengendalian risiko sesuai hierarki pengendalian. Temuan studi memperlihatkan bahwasanya potensi bahaya meliputi bahaya fisik, kimia, biologis, dan ergonomis pada tahap persiapan lahan, penanaman, pemeliharaan, penyemprotan, dan panen. Sebagian besar risiko berada pada kategori sedang, seperti paparan sinar matahari, postur kerja tidak ergonomis, serta penggunaan alat tajam. Risiko tertinggi ditemukan pada paparan pestisida dan inhalasi bahan kimia yang berpotensi menyebabkan keracunan dan gangguan pernapasan. Pengendalian risiko dilaksanakan sesuai dengan hierarki pengendalian, yakni eliminasi, substitusi, rekayasa teknik, administratif, serta pemakaian APD. Penerapan pengendalian secara sistematis serta peningkatan kesadaran petani terhadap K3 amat penting guna mengurangi risiko serta meningkatkan produktivitas kerja.

Hazard Identification, Risk Analysis, and Risk Mitigation among Eggplant Farmers in Abung Jayo Village, South Abung District, North Lampung Regency

 

ABSTRACT Eggplant cultivation activities involve various potential hazards that may affect farmers' occupational safety and health. This study aimed to identify potential hazards, analyze risk levels, and determine occupational safety and health risk control measures among eggplant farmers in Abung Jayo Village, South Abung District, North Lampung Regency. This research employed a descriptive observational study using the Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) approach. The study was conducted from March 24 to March 30, 2026, in Abung Jayo Village, South Abung District, North Lampung Regency. The study population consisted of all active farmers engaged in cultivation activities in the village. A sample of five farmers was selected using purposive sampling, with the inclusion criterion of having cultivated eggplants for at least one planting season. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews, and documentation at each stage of eggplant cultivation. Risk assessment was conducted using a 5×5 risk matrix based on likelihood and severity, while risk control measures were determined according to the hierarchy of controls.

The findings revealed the presence of physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic hazards during land preparation, planting, maintenance, pesticide spraying, and harvesting activities. Most risks were categorized as moderate, including exposure to sunlight, non-ergonomic working postures, and the use of sharp tools. The highest risks were associated with pesticide exposure and chemical inhalation, which may lead to poisoning and respiratory disorders. Risk control measures were implemented according to the hierarchy of controls, including elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The systematic implementation of risk control measures, along with increased farmer awareness of occupational safety and health, is essential to reducing risks and improving work productivity.
