NEPHROTIC SYNDROME IN CHILDREN
Abstract
Nephrotic syndrome (SN) of kidney disease in children is most often found inchildren. In Indonesia reported 6 per 100,000 per year in children aged less than 14 years. Comparison of boys and girls 2:1. Steroid therapy is the best choicefor SN. Case. Child F, 5 years old, was taken to the hospital with complaints of swelling all over the body since 2 days prior tohospital admission. The patient had a history of kidney disease and often consume methyl prednisone since 2 years ago, and patientare often hospitalized because this illness. The patient came to hospital with condition puffiness around the body. Physical findings: heart rate 90x/minute, respiration rate 24x/minute, temperature of 37.1º C, weight 20 kg, height 105 cm, lid edema, ascites and pitting edema. Blood tests obtained: total protein 3.4 g/dl, albumin 1.2 g/dl, globulin 2.2 g/dl, urea 18 mg/dl, creatinine 0.3 mg/dl, total cholesterol 455 mg/dl, urine protein 500mg/dl. Patient was diagnosed and treated with SN New Cases with low-salt diet, prednisone, furosemide, restriction of fluid intake. Conclusion. The patient will be diagnosed as a New Case SN when previous treatment history is unclear or inadequat etreatment.
