THE RELATIONS BETWEEN HEMODIALYSIS ADEQUACY AND THE LIFE QUALITY OF PATIENTS

Abstract

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a long-term condition wihich is indicated bylower glomerulate filtrate rate and higher albumin  urine. According to Kidney DiseaseOutcomes Quality Initiative (KDOQI) guidelines, there are five stages of CKD based on the glomerular filtration rate. In stage 5, which is defined as end stage renal disease (ESRD) there is total or near-total loss of kidney function which leads to poor life expectancy. All individuals who reach this stage need renal replacement therapy such as hemodialysis. A successful hemodialysis is based on its adequation and routinity. Hemodialysis adequation is associated with quality of life. Hemodialysis inadequation can reduce renal function progressively, material loss, and reduce patient’s productivity.
